Suzie is an 8 year old St Bernard girl who was left tied to the front gates of the Jerry Green Dog Rescue centre in Broughton, North Lincolnshire last month. When the on-site Jerry Green staff spotted the dog they soon realised not only was she very frightened, she was also showing signs of serious discomfort.
Her coat was completely matted, her eyes were in need of attention and the team later discovered she was also suffering from pyometra – a potentially fatal infection of the womb, common in older female dogs that have not been spayed.
Worried about her condition, the Jerry Green team rushed the dog to the vet, where she has since undergone more than £700 worth of treatment. Although priority was given to treating the infection, some overdue care was given to her matted coat and her sore eyes.
Thanks to the microchip in her neck the vet was able to establish her age and name. The vet she was registered with had been informed that she had died in 2008 and her owner’s details hadn’t been updated.
Big Sadie is a lovely girl with a big heart to match. We’re asking our supporters to dig deep and donate towards her ongoing treatment as we get her back on her feet. Once Sadie’s initial treatment has taken place she will be looking for a foster home as she is assessed for rehoming. Understandably, having been through her recent ordeal, we’re keen to get her out of a kennel environment as soon as possible.
