Scruff is a 2 and a half year old, castrated Doberman male. Scruff came in to the rescue after being dumped at a veterinary practice, his previous owners wanted him put to sleep as he was to much of a wimp and was not making a good guard dog, when the vet refused they walked off and left him. Scruff certainly is the worst guard dog ever! However he will bark in the back at a car at other dogs and will bark at other dogs on the end of his lead, however if you open the boot or let him off the lead, he will duck and run!!
Scruff is the most loving cuddly boy who is fantastic off the lead and great with other dogs (although he loves sitting and sleeping on other dogs), super tolerant! He is terrible with cats and small animals, he thinks they are to be picked up and played with. Scruff would not be suitable for a home with young children in as he is still so fearful of a lot of things, if you drop a metal food bowl on the floor he will wet himself and run and hide, he needs a family that will give him confidence.
When Scruff came in to the rescue he would shut down regularly, he would panic, wet himself and become unresponsive, god only knows what has happened to him to make him do this, however in these moments he has never shown any aggression,to get him out of it we have used masses of praise and squeaky toys, these episodes are now few and far between, however when he goes to a new home we expect him to have a few more episodes.
Scruff is a amazing boy who will make someone very happy, the more confidence he gains the more beautiful he becomes. Scruff is fully vaccinated, micro chipped and neutered.
