Hero was saved from a pound in Cyprus he has now been in his foster home nearly 2 months and has come on a long way, we do not know his history but probably a failed gun dog as very shy and thrown out which is very common. When he first arrived he was extremely traumatized by the journey and whole experience and was very quiet, nervous and shut down. His foster mummy has worked extremely hard with him socializing him which is found very difficult to begin with – was terrified of everything, he settled with her dogs very easily and she often walks with other dogs which he enjoyed too but cars, children, new people all scared him. The road walking has now become much easier and he is walking really well on his lead and much more confident.
People he is getting there, I personally have met him and after initially ignoring him he did not take long until he was snuggled up to me wanting me to fuss him, he really is a very loving dog and sweet natured, but because of his earlier experience of life where he has obviously had no socialization or very little his confidence away from his home is quite low. In the home with people he knows he is fab, fantastic with the other dogs, one of our other foster dogs Dexter is with him and they are great pals already, he lives with two toy breeds male and female again fab. House trained, does not chew, happy to be crated.
We think the best home for Hero is without doubt with another dog or dogs as long as they not dominate – a Pointer home or similar would be fab as he has walked with another Pointer and seems much more confident with her. A couple or person will be more suitable than family home he will not cope with the noise and comings and goings. Hero is very small for a Pointer. People who have worked with dogs with low confidence before and understand them. A rural home would be a plus with no full workers although he is fine being left for 3 hours. He will form a close with who ever adopts him are you that special person or family.
Hero has been vaccinated, chipped, passport and had all his blood tests – home check apply if interested please email us in the first instance for our application form.
