Dexter – 12 week old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

This lovely chunky monkey we have named Dexter, we are not sure what his mix is we can see Staffordshire Bull Terrier but also something biggest too we think he will make Lab size. This delightful young man unlike many of his mix has had a very lucky escape, he has had two homes that we know of prior to us. When he first arrived he was very confused, stressed and upset – but after a day of good food and a good night’s sleep that first day and how he felt is a distance memory.

Dexter is just plain gorgeous, its very obvious he had never been ill treated and has been well looked after and socialised. He has no hang ups and loves everyone, very good around the other dogs he has been fostered with, he loves children he has met out and about, walks very well on his lead, getting the hang of house training very quickly.

Dexter spends his day playing with his foster brother and keeping out the way of the little dogs in the house who feel they are above playing. He enjoys his sleep and is crate trained. He is meeting new people and dogs regularly and receiving basic training, everyone who meets Dexter loves him because you just cannot help it.

We know Dexter will be easy to home but will not be easy is finding the right home – it really does have to be his forever home we are not prepared to risk Dexter becoming another one of the staffie statistics that gets given up up when he is 12 months old because someone has not had the time to train and socialise him. This boy has all the makings of becoming an ambassador for his mix and breed, he has a wonderful temperament and character, very obviously well socialised. So his fate lays in the special family we choose for him.

We think he would be better with children over 12 – he is going to be big, he is a puppy so has his bouncy times when he could knock them over. Or adult only home with experience not first time dog owner, somebody who does not work full time, somebody who without doubt will take him dog training, nothing flash just the local village hall will do but something to keep up his socialization and training while he grows up. Somebody who will neture him when old enough as this will be part of the adoption agreement. If you have other dogs probably another steady older dog will be better and for him to learn from than two mad things playing.
