Layla is a female, 3 year old, spayed, Miniature Schnauzer, who is looking for a quiet, calm home. She is being re-homed directly from her current home and is not in foster or kenneled. The reason she is being re homed is because she is petrified of the new baby in the home, and will shake and hide if the baby cries or makes a noise. Layla has also started to soil in the house and become destructive as a result of her stress. Layla has always had a nervous disposition and been noise sensitive, but her owner has made lots of effort with training and behaviour over the last 2 years and made wonderful progress, Layla became more confident and happy (still the occasional toilet accident though) and learnt to play and do tricks. But the arrival of baby has been a huge set back for her and one that her owner feels she will not be able to overcome if she remains in the same environment as baby.
Layla would be best suited as an only dog, although she lives with another Schnauzer currently,she can be overbearing with regards to attention and food when she is around him, which means he doesn’t get a look in if she decides so. She is comfortable with dogs out on walks. She would suit an active home. Preferably a retired or semi retired household or an adult only home where someone is around a good part of the day. She has lived with children, but took a while to adapt, and we feel it is in her best interest currently to re-home her where there are no children, although visiting children will be fine. She enjoys long walks and is very affectionate a bit of a lap dog. She knows her basic training, is obedient and does tricks and has good recall and is crate trained.
She is quite nervous though and noise sensitive, particularly with fireworks/doors slamming etc (We can offer advice regarding this). Whoever adopts Layla, you will be her third and hopefully final home, which is why we have to put her not so good points up there. In the right home, Layla has huge potential, she has great character, is keen to learn and loves to exercise and have a cuddle. Not cat/bird friendly.
