Two year old Bichon Cross Micha is being fostered in Pontypridd, South Wales. She will follow her new “parents” everywhere and laps up any attention that she can get. If you sit down she cuddles up to your feet. If you are doing housework she will follow you from room to room – and if you have a bath she will stand on her hind legs to make sure that you don’t disappear. Currently, Micha lives with a number of dogs and she has lived with dogs previously. She tends to ignore the other dogs and focus on her foster mum. She has not been cat tested but seems quite interested in small furry animals so if she was to be rehomed in a house with them they would need to be kept in another room or high up. Micha walks well on her lead. She walks at a constant pace with a loose lead. She could easily be walked by a sensible child with adult supervision or by an elderly person who may walk a bit slower. She is a clever girl who is eager to please but at present she is somewhat stressed as she settles into her new surroundings and has some problems toileting in her bed at night. We expect this to clear up as she settles in.
Micha has not been crated and has not been left on her own yet. She does become very focused on her main human carer – lot liking them to be out of her sight. She whimpered when left with other humans when her foster mum took the other dogs out. She sleeps in the kitchen with the other dogs overnight without any noise. Micha does not play with toys and is not at all dominant with food. Feeding is a bit of an issue – Micha would happily let any other dog eat her food so that she can have something nicer. She does not eat dried food at all and is currently not impressed with the wet food that she has been offered. She will need a home that is willing to persevere with dog food – and not give in to those puppy dog eyes and give her human food! Training in this respect is on-going – her foster mum is trying to get her to eat dog food independently when it is put down rather than having to be coaxed.
Micha loves being fussed and will take every opportunity to come for a cuddle. She travels well, sitting on the car seat with a suitable harness. No problems have been reported at the vets. Micha likes humans – she is sociable with both males and females. She can be a bit timid when she first meets males and won’t approach them but quickly comes around when she realises that they just want to make a fuss of her. She has been great with her foster mum’s children aged between 7 and 15. Normal household noises cause no problems for Micha. As previously mentioned, she does have overnight toileting issues but this is expected to settle. Micha is very focused on her main human carer so needs a home where her human is at home for most of the time. She could happily live with gentle children of all ages but could also live with a retired but not too elderly couple as she would enjoy having an owner to dote on. Micha could live with other dogs as long as they are gentle with her but isn’t really bothered so would also be happy as an only dog. Experience with dogs with separation anxiety would be an advantage.
Micha is up to date with her flea treatment, vaccinations is wormed and is micro-chipped. She is neutered. Prospective adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in South Wales.
