Sadie is a beautiful 11 year old Great Dane cross Mastiff girl who came into the Oldies Club rescue because her owner was relocating to non-dog accommodation. Sadie is in an Oldies Club foster home on the Hampshire/ West Sussex border, waiting for someone to offer her a permanent home.
Sadie is fine to be left alone for a few hours. She has been left in the company of the resident dog at her foster home, and in her previous home she was left on her own. Sadie would probably cope with living with full-time workers, provided she had a walk at lunchtime, somewhere soft and warm to sleep, and was integrated into the family on your return. Sadie is good with dogs and is happily living with the resident 10 year old German She[herd cross Rottweiler at her foster home.
Sadie definitely cannot live with cats, not even cats that are used to big dogs. She hates cats and will chase them! She also wouldn’t be suitable to live with guinea pigs, rabbits etc. Sadie is a big dog and weighs around 60 kg, with a long, heavy, happy tail that can hurt if it catches you accidentally! She is currently living with teenage twins who are used to dogs. Purely due to her size and strength only, care would have to be taken around younger children. She knows that children tend to ‘drop’ food, so has a tendency to beg when they eat, until reminded not to.
Sadie’s favourite pastimes: Being warm – she loves the Aga! She also loves to be outside sniffing and chewing a bone, and being brushed and talked to. She will try to get on the sofa with you for a cuddle if you’re not careful. Sadie needs someone who is used to big dogs and who will be firm but gentle with her. Her size means there’s a lot of weight on her joints when she lies down so she needs somewhere soft and warm. She enjoys having access to plenty of outdoor space at her foster home so would enjoy a home with a nice big garden.
Sadie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has been wormed and flea treated. Since coming into Oldies Club care she has had a number of lumps removed and has now been given a clean bill of health.
