Milo – 5 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

This little man called Milo a Jack Russell came into our care as his mummy passed away in the summer, he was placed in kennels by her family who never paid the bill and had just left him there since August. We were alerted to this little man’s plight by a lovely lady who helps there.

When this little man arrived he took a little bit to settle down, his skin was red and sore, he found it very hard to settle and seem quite worried about life. Very obviously from his vet history he has been a very loved well looked after dog all his life since puppy-hood and must have been very confused as to why his world had been turned upside down and his mummy never came back from him.

He is living in a family foster home with two teenage boys, at first seem quite worried and stressed and had an upset tummy but all this has gradually settled down. He is really a good little boy especially as we know how terriers can be. He walks beautifully on his lead, is fine off the lead, takes no notice of other dogs either on the lead or off the lead, loves his runs and chasing his ball. He sleeps well at night and is totally house trained.

Because he is not used to living with a family he sometimes gets stressed when people are in different parts of the house and is much better once everyone is settled watching TV he will then curl up with you. This is improving and is a lot to do with the past few months being in kennels and also being used to living with one older lady. His worse trait would have to be on how he gets very excited about his toys, he wants you to throw them but sometimes if you pick them up he tries to snatch them back – he is not nasty and has no malice in him at all but would not be suitable with young children because he could catch their hand if not quick enough.

We are going to buy him a chucker for over the park as its a safer way of throwing a ball for a dog who enjoys this but gets a bit carried away. In lots of way he is typical terrier and would probably suit a home who have had Terriers before – either someone on their own or a couple as that is what he is used to – he is an active dogs and loves being outside so someone who loves their walks or is out and about a lot would suit him too – from the videos below you can see the loving side of him, he loves being brushed although he is short haired I think he just loves the fuss and the time being spent with him and you can also see him with his toys.
