7 Reasons to Adopt: Meet The Whole #MuttsterMatch Crew

This past week we featured seven wonderful shelter pups from seven wonderful local rescues in one big online adoption event. Our #MuttsterMatch dog ‘n human matchmaking campaign has wrapped up, but our work isn’t done!

Meet The Whole #MuttsterMatch Crew

Barnaby – 1 year old male Poodle Cross

Barnaby is a 1 year old Poodle cross who is doing well in his foster home in Chelmsford Essex. He’s being treated for a cut on his head which is healing nicely and he was quite matted hence the short hair do!( makes him look like a Bedlington).

Barnaby will need someone to continue his training as although he is a loving sweet boy he can be a bit bossy. He is great off lead and loves other dogs. He has a non moult coat that will need grooming regularly. He loves a lap and a cuddle – very affectionate fella.

Poppy – 3 year o female Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Poppy is a 3 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is in foster in Tilbury Essex. She’s an affectionate girl who loves playing with her toys and is a great house guest. She’s a daft lump who may be a bit too clumsy to be homed with small children but she’s very sweet and loving.

Max – 5-6 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

Here we have a small Jack Russel Terrier 5-6 years old, male in care of animalactiontrust. Max is vibrant and ultra friendly. He lives with two cats currently. He is very interested in other cats outdoors, probably wishing to play. But they don’t wait to find out. He is clean indoors when he is properly managed. Poor Max has had a raw deal of late as the owner relied on visitors to walk him. She was unable to do this for him for over a year.

Max really loves children and always gets very excited when the grand kids turn up. He pulls a little on the lead at first then settles. Max now needs a new home, although much loved and much deserved to be loved. For a Jack Russell lover, there is no better little boy, Max is kindly, engaging and great fun. He is crate trained for those shopping trips.

Max wants a home with company during the day, to take him out and to make his life whole again. He is being sadly given up so that he can get a better life more fitting a fit healthy young terrier. Max seems okay with well behaved dogs, although he’s not been out and about so very often. We think a dog class would be a lovely idea for Max who is so willing to learn. Max can be seen in Basildon at the moment.

Gino – 1 year old male Cross-Breed

Gino is about a year old, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is a really friendly, playful young boy who has slotted in to living in a home as if he always had. He has only been in foster a short time but is almost house trained and is starting to really enjoy his walks. He gets on well with other dogs and would be fine living with a canine companion if as an only dog with someone who us around a lot of the day. Adoption fee and home check apply.

Poppy – 20 week old female Terrier Cross

Here we meet little female puppy called Poppy. Poppy was picked having been abandoned in the streets for several days. She is currently with animalactiontrust in foster in Brentwood. She is proving to be very happy and friendly with all she meets, dogs and people. She is around 20 weeks old only. Initially unwilling to share indoors, she is now able to share toys and not worry too much over food.

She comes chipped and vaccinated. Her recall is shabby but at the moment she can be brought back using a long line. (Must try harder, it says on her report!!) She is rough coated and could well be Patterdale. She has some doggy friends in foster (see photo of Dice also up for adoption) and would fit in with another friendly dog once the introduction is handled well. We have no children around her at the moment but she is young enough to adjust.

Teddy – 10 month old male Shih Tzu Cross

Teddy is a Shi Tzu cross puppy of 10 months handed to animalactiontrust because circumstances changed. Teddy would like to live with a friendly female dog. Teddy has in the past suffered separation anxiety. In Foster this has been well managed and he can be left for shopping trips etc.

This could well be helped by having another dog or two for company. So it must be a home where it is not empty and everyone is out during the day. Teddy is clean, he is a proper little gentleman. You will not be on first name terms with Teddy until you have been well scrutinised and he has had time to make his own mind up and take steps to introduce himself when he feels the time is right.

Teddy has been brought up with children and has loved them. That being said, it must also be said that, with one of the children he was known to snap at him, the 5 year old. Teddy does not truly hurt but makes his opinions known. That is his character. We feel that Teddy would enjoy the company of older children of say 10 years plus.
